Bear Gulch Road Residence

This house on 15 acres overlooking Palo Alto was designed as an active and passive solar house. The roof contains clerestory windows that bring in light and sun in the winter but shelter the sun in the summer. Solar heating and hot water system supplies the main house and a full second living unit below. A large deck encircles the north and east sides providing expansive views. The various wall heights and wood faced vaulted ceilings and extensive use of natural wood paneling and trim give a spacious but warm feeling to all rooms.
