Bean Hollow Road Residence

This 18 acre site with 180 degree ocean views in a cool windy climate presented a unique challenge. The steel and glass house is organized in a U shaped fashion and cut into the site to create a wind sheltered inner courtyard. Large expanses of glass are oriented toward the south and west to capture the fabulous white water views and to maximize solar gain. The floating roof shapes clad in metal take their cue from ocean waves breaking on the shore. The house includes four Rumford style wood burning fireplaces, an indoor-outdoor spa and lap pool, solarium, hanging loft and library in the main space, views from every major room, a loft in each of the children's rooms, and an outdoor second floor view deck with outdoor fireplace to watch the sunsets.
